3 days Akagera national park, is one of the largest national parks in Rwanda and covers approximately 1,200 square kilometer along the Tanzania border. Akagera was established in 1934 to protect the fauna and flora in the savannah, mountain and swamp.
The park is named after Akagera the river that flows along the boundaries and feeds pother lakes such as Ihema.
